HP3600n printing stopped working after upgrading to 12.04.LTS

I had 11.. series Ubuntu working fine until recently when I upgraded to the 12.04LTS version.
Besides sporadic system crashes while using Libre Office, a more pression problem is to get my network printing to work again.

Printer is a HP Color LaserJet 3600n. I tried variour driver combinations that came with the Ubuntu package, but so far all in vain.

Print manager says "job stopped", and printer prints out an error message saying:

PCL XL error
Subsystem: Kernel
Error: IllegalTag
Operator: 0x45
Position: 7

Can anyone help?

Grab the latest HPLIP from the HPLIP site, may help
