installing laserjet 4 plus with Parellel Cable only

Asked by Yaakov Freedman

i successfully instaled the HP Linux Imaging and Printing see (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/laserjet/hp_laserjet_4_plus.html)

However when I run the hp-setup utility (see here http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install_wizard/index.html) ubuntu 10.10) i cannot see the parelle port option as it is greyed out. therefore it cannot be installed.

please advise?

I believe it supports parallel, you just need extra packages. I suggest you install the latest HPLIP and it will show things missing in the output in the terminal to show what is needed to make the parallel printing work.
