windows-ubuntu print share problem

Asked by Patrick Farabaugh

My problem is not unique by what I have been reading. I just installed Ubuntu on my second computer it was a clean install. When I downloaded the printer drivers for my All in One Office jet Pro 7650 printer I proceeded to install it as a share with my Windows 7 box. The printer is physically connected to my Windows box. I cas see the printer when i use the command of smbtree however when trying to print a test page it will not migrate to the printer.

I can access Windows from Ubuntu but not the reverse. On my network from windows I can only see the windows box. I have read through all the forums with no luck in finding a solution. I am experienced in windows but not Linux. I wo8uld love to get some help this is my first time with Linux.

It could be simple syntax error but I don´t really know. Please help

Patrick

What version of Windows are you using. Can you also give the output of:

lsb_release -a

Thanks

patrick@voyager:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 11.04
Release: 11.04
Codename: natty

I am running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my other box: however, when I
connect the printer to my Ubuntu box it works great just will not
migrate to my windows box.

You will need to install samba then you can share folders in Ubuntu. They will appear as Windows shares to Windows 7. Be sure that Windows 7 can pig the ubuntu name and/or IP

Can you help with this problem?
