Install of HP 5610 all-in-one printer driver

I have downloaded the file hplip-3.11.5.run from the HP site. Per instructions, opened a terminal and attempted to cd to the downloaded file location. I tried "cd desktop", "cd downloads", and a couple of others. All i get is "no such file or directory". Running Ubuntu 10.10 and it is up to date. Can I get a driver that takes advantage of all this printer capabilities, i.e. scanning? Any help would be appreciated.

Well, it's caps-sensitive, so maybe if you try cd Desktop or cd Downloads (depending on where you downloaded it to) that will help :)
