HPLIP requires re-installation at every boot up

HPLIP 3.11.5 was downloaded and installed on Ubuntu 11.04.
However the plug-in has to be re-installed after every boot-up to get the HP printers to work.
I propose to remove HPLIP 3.11.5 entirely and then re-install it again.
What are the commands to be run on the terminal to do this?
