hplip 3.11.5 requires plug in to be installed after every boot up

Asked by srikumar

Am using Ub 11.04 and have loaded Hplip-3.11.5 to get my HP printers working.

However printing is not possible after a fresh boot up and requires Hplip to be down loaded again after every boot up.

How to get over this.
any suggestions ?

thank you

ok so we know it's config based. If you manually reinstall the app. Does it make it ok?

which one to manually install

Libre Office 3
or
Hplip

should they be removed first and then re-installed or re-installed over the existing installation

How to remove Hplip - what is the command to run on the terminal ?

Hplip 3.11.5 has already been downloaded and installed and there is a directory named hplip-3.11.5 in my home folder. Perhaps all this should be completely removed.

I propose to re-install it again as suggested by actionparsnip.

The same problem again this Monday morning - both HP printers not working. Could not even install the plug-in - no resonse.

Have downloaded Hplip-3.11.5.run and installed it over the existing Hplip-3.11.5 installation and now the HP printers are working again.

The same problem again this Tuesday morning - both HP printers not working. Printers not working with Libre Office Writer or with Libre Office Calc or with Evolution Mail.

It seems to be some configuration problem.

The plug-in had to be re-installed again and now the HP printers are working again.

There already is a Hplip-3.11.5 directory in the home folder with many sub-directories since hplip-3.11.5.run is already installed.
Any suggestions to get over this daily problem?

Thank you
