Hplip-3.11.5- printers does not print A5 landscape properly

Asked by srikumar

Have installed Ub 11.04 and then hplip-3.11.5 and both printers HP 1200 and HP 1005P are working OK.

Tried printing a small spreadsheet on A5 size landscape paper using Libre Office Calc and the print out does not print properly - a part of the print out is cut off. However the print preview shows a perfect print layout.

What needs to be done to correct this ?
Any suggestions ?

Thank you

Printing using Libre Office Writer works but it does not recognise the Upper Single Sheet Manual Feed Tray and prints with paper from the Bottom Tray ignoring the manual feed paper. The Bottom Tray is loaded with a stack of A4 paper and the Upper Single Sheet Manual Tray is fed by other off size paper, one sheet at a time.

Any sugesstions ?

Thank you

Have been able to get Libre Office Writer to recognise and print from the Single Sheet Upper Manual Feed Tray by changing the following setting:-

open Libre Office Writer
Tools > Options > LibreOfficeWriter > Print
tick off the check box under Other > Paper Tray from Printer Setting

and now Libre Office Writer prints from the Upper Printer Tray as well.

The problem with Libre Office Calc is still there.

any suggestions ?

In my office writer the check box Other>Paper Tray from Printer setting is OFF, and the bug is always here.

Sorry, Calc do'nt have this option.

Other test in my workbook Calc:

Sheet's Format page = A5 Portrait
Printer settings = A5 portrait
Calc prints the sheet like an A4 !! (the Page Foot is printed in bottom of the A4) :(

Later I unsintall LO et re install OO, and I will see !

thank you

Hooray, it works.

As usual the HP printers were not recognised after boot up this morning until the Hplip plug in was re-installed.
Thereafter the A5 print outs came out perfectly.

Perhaps Hplip has been updated - I do not know.

The A5 paper size printing problem has now been solved.

Thank you

Thank you srikumar,

Can you say the version of hplib was installed. In the HP Device Manager Menu Help>About to read the version.

Also , are you with Linux Natty (11.04) and LO 3.3.2?

Thank you for your details....

What happens really ?
For me even re-install hplip the problem is still there.
How you install Hplip 3.11.5 ? with hplip-3.11.5.run or with Synaptic ?
For me I am sure that LO is bad

others suggestions or détails ?

The same problem again this Monday morning - both HP printers not working. Could not even install the plug-in - no response.
Have downloaded the Hplip-3.11.5.run file this morning and installed it over the existing Hplip-3.11.5 installation. Now the HP printers are working again.

for the A5 paper landscape printing - the spreadsheet is set up on the screen as A5 landscape but the A5 paper is physically placed into the printer as A5 portrait - but it prints out sideways as A5 landscape mode!. This way
