hp 1020 printer installation

I followed steps while downloading and running software from hplip.But the system prompt for a plugin file which cannot be downloaded from openprinting.org.Hence the printer didnot work

Please be way more specific.

What version of Ubuntu are you running? What printer do you have? What steps did you follow? If they are online, please post a link. Which step were you on when you were prompted "for a plugin file"? When you say you were prompted "for a plugin file" do you mean that you were told to download it, or that your computer attempted to download it, or something else altogether? When you say that it couldn't be download from openprinting.org, are you telling us that that's what the error message said, or are you saying that you went to that site and tried to download it and couldn't find it, or something else altogether? If there was an error message, what is the full and exact text of the error message? And what is the exact file name (if you know, or can find out) of the plugin file that you need but cannot get from openprinting.org?

Thanks for responding
I am new to ubuntu
My version is ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 and printer is HP Laserjet 1020.Driver is hplip3.11.3.run.When extracting and installing in commandline mode,the required plugin file not found message is obtained.THe problem mentioned is connection time out(I cannot even open the website openprinting.org)

Hello,

Go to the Synaptic Package Manager in System/Administration and type in the search HP print. Install the relevant packages.
