You may benefit from grabbing the latest HPLIP from the HPLIP site and installing it.

What happens when you kick off a print?

How does the printer connect to the system?

hplip-3.11.1.run is what i have downloaded... when i click this it asks for me to select and application to open it. when this happens what application should i choose?

"Could not open the file /home/ryan/Downloads/hplip-3.11.1(3).run." -it has said before

printer connects via usb cable.

when i try to kick off a print after funbling around with driver selections it does say job sent and completed, but the printer itself stays idle, and doesn't even report ink levels or anything.

thanks for asking

try:

chmod +x /home/ryan/Downloads/hplip-3.11.1(3).run; /home/ryan/Downloads/hplip-3.11.1(3).run

It will then run.

Listen.. Nice coding my friend.. But, I am so dumb I do not know where to key this in. I need some serious patience and step by step clarity..
Now I feel this has done its thing before, but when a test page is sent to the printer as a "job". nothing happens... It recognizes the printer but under model section it calls it something like an hp 2030.. arg

From the beginning.. Its an hp deskjet 3050 j610a..
please help the unenlightened...

this is a hidden mystery of nature and science here.. ;)
