Purchased a HP Deskjet 2050 J510 series printer added printer but the print jobs/test page does not print

Purchased a new Deskjet 2050 All-in-One J510 series printer.

The computer detected the printer ok
Proceded to select the drivers which offered me Deskjet 2000 driver this was successful.

Attempted to print the Test Page.

The Print Job processed successfully but the printer did not action anything

I tried just typing hplip but it didnt recognise it
what should I type in for the command to work?

Hi Clive,

Did you try installing HPLIP through the Ubuntu Software Center (under the Applications menu)? The version of HPLIP is 3.10.6 (so it's a little older than the current one available from sourceforge) but it might resolve your issue more easily?

Grab the run file here and run it in a terminal without sudo.
Should be fine

The printer required the latest set of drivers from HP.

These have been installed - device is now working.

The HP 2050 J510 was working nicely on Maverick until the last update. Now when I start xsane it says Segmentation fault. The same happens with flegita.

My problem was with getting an uptodate copy of the device drivers from HPLIP. I am afraid I have not used XSANE Frank so I am not much help to you Im afraid.
