there is no possibility to choose the tray print on CD

Asked by Evgeniy Lisetckiy

Hello! I have a MFP fotosmart 5383 with the ability to print on CD ROM. Operating System - 10.10 Kubuntu amd64, hplip 3.10.6 from the official repository. There is no possibility to choose the source for printing on CD ROM only photo tray or upper tray.
How do I print on CDs?

Tnx.

You have to get the size of the page right. According to the HPLIP manual that's 5", although you could also try 5.12".

You don't need to use that localhost address and set the printer DEFAULTS, but you need to set the page size, media type, and paper source to CD. In most Ubuntu/Gnome applications you need to use the File > Print... menu to do that. Look also for a "Properties" button if there is one. Do not use the File > Printer Settings... menu. It doesn't seem to work right on some applications.

Sorry this is in English, and I guess you don't have English menus, but that's the best I can do.

At 25.4 mm /inch, 5" is more than 120 mm, but that's all right. On my HP C309a printer the key was that I had to set the page size to 5". If the size was wrong there were many confusing problems. Then in the print menus it sets itself to 5.12". I have no idea why this all works. It is VERY confusing.

If you have any problems with the margins being wrong (printing off center), please let me know. I am trying to solve that problem.

Can you help with this problem?
