Installing a hp deskjet printer 812c

Asked by pbgarff

I just installed linux 10.04. I have a hp deskjet 812c printer. When I tried to add a printer, the OS only let me configure the system for an HP deskjet 810c printer. This does not work. How do I select the correct printer driver? When I was using linux 8.4, the printer selection was no problem.

Try installing the latest HPLIP from the HPLIP site

Even though I installed the correct version or hplip-3.10.6, the OS still keeps using an older version that only has a driver for hp 810c. I need the driver for hp 812c and still can't get the OS to find the right driver. I've done all the installs, makes, etc and the installation of hplip-3.10.6 is done but the system seems to still find the older version that came with ubuntu 10.04 (hplip-3.6.2).

I still need some help. Thanks. P Garff
