veersions of HPLIP which to use?

Asked by John Hart

I have HPLIP version 3.10.6 installed (downloaded from the HPLIP site). I did not realize that there were other version by Ubuntu. What is the main difference? should I try to uninstall 3.10.6 and install an Ubuntu version?

I am having trouble with a HP Photosmart A616 printer, the problem was not corrected by the new version of HPLIP.

The printer will only print 25% to 33% of the image and then stop actual printing, and the printer displays continues to say it is printing when nothing is happening. I am of the opinion that there is no problem with my netbook OS or driver, and that the printer is having a problem, but I di not know how to figure it out. The printer will print fine from a flash drive.

Again, I repeat that this condition existed prior to the download of version HPLIP 3.10.6. I have connected this netbook to my HP PSC 1315v and printed with no problems.

Any suggestions? Thanks

I always advise using the one on the HPLIP site. Others will advise using the package as it gives an easier way to remove the package.

I suggest you create a bug log with hplip stating your issue.

Can you help with this problem?
