In order to run the MTS OS Hercules needs to be upgraded to atleast 3.08

Asked by Harold H Bell

The MTS (Michigan Terminal System from UM) operating system needs a couple of bug fixes that were made in Hercules 3.08 in order to run properly. An information link is here http://archive.michigan-terminal-system.org/documentation#TOC-MTS-under-Hercules. apt-get on my system reports hercules is at version 3.07. Version 3.11 source is available from hercules-390.eu and considered stable. Thanks for your time.

How is this related to Ubuntu?

I was under the impression I was not supposed to contact the ubuntu hercules maintainer directly to make such a request. How should I request a package maintainer bring the apt-get package up to the level commonly in use elsewhere? Thanks.

If you want to stimulate that the Hercules package is updated from 3.07 to 3.11, you can create a bug report.
Most of the packages in Ubuntu are coming via Debian, so you have to expect that the Ubuntu packages get updated only after there is a stable version of the new package in Debian, but currently Debian is also only on 3.07 https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=hercules&searchon=names&exact=1&suite=all&section=all
