need gui enabled

hercules on windows comes installed with the ability to be manipulated by a gui. On most linux distributions this is not the case. There are several people working on open source gui's for hercules. The configure option is --enable-external-gui but I have not been able to get it to work with ubuntu (worked fine for me in fedora). I use java and dont know anything about the configure-make process in order to fix it. As far as I know having it set will not otherwise affect the program and will insure that third party gui's can be used with the distro's package without any hassles by the user.
