Updated ghc Packages Anytime Soon?

Asked by Michael Urban

Any chance we are going to see updated ghc packages anytime soon? The ones in the repository are getting pretty long in the tooth. Five new versions of ghc have been released in the meantime, including a major version number jump. These packages are nearly a year and a half old.

You may find a PPA here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas

If you log a bug stating what secrity holes and bugfixes the new version gives it may be added. 'old' doesn't always equal 'bad'

Thanks. I realize that old doesn't always equal bad. But this version is old enough that it does not support the Haskell 2010 standard. Supporting the Haskell 2010 standard seems like a good enough reason to me to update the packages. Otherwise we are stuck writing code that conforms to Haskell 98.

There are a few bugs that would be nice to see fixed as well. Like the LLVM compiler panic on LLVM. But I'll write those up in a bug report.
