I use sysinfo from the synaptic package manager found in system >> administration >> synpatic

You can also use hardinfo. Install it with:

sudo apt-get install hardinfo

and you can access it through: Applications--->System Tools--->Hardinfo

sudo lshw | less

if its a server system (or if you just want to use command line and look cool)
