download fldigi from synaptic package manager

I've downloaded fldigi through the synaptic package manager. The icon shows up in the correct application but when I click on the icon to open the program it fails to open. I have a problem with several of these programs for amateur radio use... What am I doing wrong?

A program is not launched after installation with synaptic. You have just installed it, not run it. The program may need to be launched separately.

If it is a graphical program then it should place an icon in your menu somewhere. If it is a console only program, then it will need to be run by hand from the terminal, ie. by typing the name of the program into the terminal.

fldigi does place an icon in your menu.
