Hello,

You need to edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with this command in a terminal:
gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and change this line:
    DefaultDepth 24
to this line:
    DefaultDepth 16

Then save the file and restart X (<CTRL><ALT>Backspace)
