Connecting USB MP3 player

Asked by TommyJ

I am a newbie to Ubuntu and Linux in general. I just made my old Windows box a full time Ubuntu box and am having probs getting my Rio Cali MP3 player working. I have Amarok and also Rythmbox music player software loaded but I can't seem to get them to recognize that the media. When I connect the device it tells me it is connected and waiting or some interaction from me and I can see in the Device Manager that it can see the device, but I can't take anything of or move anything to it. I tried using autodect in Amarok and also manually adding the device to no avail. I am not sure about the mounting points. Like I said, I'm new to this. Thanks in advance for the help.

For a GUI have a look at http://www.botch.com/~mpilone/projects/jrioutil.php (give it a try only after you installed the above mentioned packages).
