amd processor

i have a amd athlon (tm) 64x2 dual core processor
when running program it is only showing one core working....

help please i am a newby to linux btw

Where are you getting the information on how many cores are working?
And what kernel are you running (output of "uname -a")?

If you're using 'top', it by default packs everything into one CPU line. Press the '1' (number one) key to split it into two lines.
