Sagem USB 802.11b wifi dongle - XI 735 - how to install it?

Asked by giwernik

Hi,
I just installed The new 7.04 Ubuntu on my laptop. Everything is ok apart from my wifi card. It was plugged in during installation of OS but it has not been installed. The card is Sagem USB 802.11b wifi dongle - the chipset is XI 735. When I look in the device manager it is recognized as a WLAN interface, however Vendor and Device is unknown. It recognizes only
BUS Type- USB interface
Device Type: "net" "net.80211"
Capabilities: net, net.80211

Please help me how can I install this device so it will work.
Thank you in advance for help

PS. My knowledge of linux is so far equal 0 so please write with as much description as possible- thx.

Hello,
You can find a general howto to setup wireless here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WiFiHowTo

In your case since it didn't work out of the box, you probably need ndiswrapper.
It is a program which allow you to use a windows driver on linux.
more information here:
