No tengo sonido

open a terminal and write the following command:

lspci

then copy and paste the line referring to the audio device here. In my case it is:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

Hi, Im Vahn thanks for take care of my problem, well that problem begun when
I tried to instal beryl for my ubuntu operation system, I change an archive
at the x11 directory, when I restarted ubuntu I saw that I had no audio so I
stareted to panic so I asked for help at yours forum, then I calm down and
change the file I edited to the normal state and after restarted ubuntu I
once again had audio, well that was good because Im a new user of linux and
done all that was big progres for me in fact Im so happy for done that by my
self, the sad thing is that I still cant install beryl for my system, can
you help me please?, and one more thing, can you help me to update my
firefox, because I have at my opt file copied starfox2 but I dont know how
to install the java plugins on it, the extrange thing is that the old
version the 1.5 provaided with ubuntu I was able to install all the plugins
but for this I just dont know how, can you help me pleas.

ps:
    Please apologise me for my inglish, its been a while since I use it so
much, so I know Its kind like funny but I think i can let you know what i
whant to say so be patient with my inglish thanks

Hi Vahn,
i suggest you to ask in irc (internet relay chat) you have many questions, and there you can find people answering in real time.
Ubuntu has many support channels, think in spanish too (yes it is #ubuntu-es)
You should already have a client program installed (think default is XChat-Gnome) in Applications -> Internet menu.
After you opened the program choose irc.freenode.net as the network to connect to, and then join the channel #ubuntu-es.
You'll find a lot of kind persons that can answer to all your question.

Luego de leer los prerequisitos, podes ir hasta el apartado: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Java#head-7f353d2f3fb1a09aac09cf1caee565e897319306
para ver los comandos especificos de firefox+java.
2- Con respecto a Beryl, no incluís ningún mensaje de error así que sin esa información básica no es posible asistirte.

Hola, ¿probaste rstaurando el audio? aquí te pego una guía que me fue útil a mi en su momento, espero te sea útil a ti también:
    sudo aptitude install module-assistant build-essential

    sudo module-assistant prepare,update

    sudo module-assistant build,install alsa

    sudo depmod

Ya solo nos queda reiniciar y voila, sonido perfectamente instalado.
