no sound ..es1869pnp..new to linux

have compq en desktop..600mhz cpu ...256-pc100 ram...ati rage pro ... es1869pnp sound...ubuntu 10... new to Linux & cant get sound out of it. tried different sound cards and volume control dose'nt seem to find any thing to control...ive googled this to no avail...some help plz .

Not sure if you are using 6.10 or 5.10, but if you read through the following thread, it seems that a lot of people got it working without much of a problem.
