FoxConn 748K7AA sound isshues

Asked by shane arsenault

i have a foxconn 748K7AA motherboard...with an onboard ac97 sis SI7012 soundcard the problem is is that this sound card seems to put out only one sound from one app at a time...
if teamspeak is useing the sound i cannot play music and no other app can play sound....this is not app specific it happens with any app that uses the sound first.
if anyone has any idea of how to fix this please let me know
thank you for your time

oh to make things even worse i plugged my pci soundblaster live! 5.1 surround sound card which with my old motherboard let any app it wanted to use the sound at the same time....now suffers from the same simptoms as the onboard sound card..just thought that might help to narrow what ever is going on down....
thanx for your time again

It seems that you use OSS as default sink. Please, ensure that you have ALSA driver as main output plugin (Ubuntu Menu -> System -> Preferences -> Multimedia Systems Selector -> Audio). It should allow the applications to play more than 1 sound at a time. Also, (if possible) configure your Audio (like xmms) and Video player to use alsa output plugin. If that doesn't help you then please, provide the output of the command 'lsmod | grep snd'
