Hi JP,

what do you mean by "my voodoo 3 2000 video card is obviously not working" ? don't have a graphical login screen at start up ?

Anyway, the drivers are provided within ubuntu. They are just not probably correctly configured.
The configuration file for the graphical server is /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
In this file you can find a section "Device" , with a line "Driver". In front of Driver, you probably have "vesa", you should replace "vesa" by "tdfx".

Note: to edit the file, you can use "nano":
nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
