Controller worked in Lucid, but not Maverick.

Asked by Tim Behnken

I have a Saitek P2500 usb controller that worked just fine under ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, but now will not work under 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. Worse still, I can find nothing on how to configure controllers in this version of ubuntu. I have looked everywhere and can not even find a joystick settings option or information on how to install a controller. Why would a new version of an operating system have LESS hardware support than a predecessor, and NO joystick support?

Somebody please help me with this or I'm just going to go back to stealing Windows 7.

You don't have to add:
"Somebody please help me with this or I'm just going to go back to stealing Windows 7"
It adds nothing to the question and doesn't make anybody want to help you any more or any less.

Have you logged a bug? Are bugs logged?

It's not meant to add anything, jackass. It's to illustrate my frustration
with this half-baked and half-assed operating system that can't even perform
a task as simple as recognizing a common usb controller.

Go fuck yourself with a rusty pole.

Allow me to reiterate, I'm switching back to Windows. At least it can
recognize common peripherals without having a stroke.

FYI, we don't need to have your frustration, it (again) adds nothing to the question. I'm sure a lot of people who have posted questions on here are frustrated too, but they keep their questions to the facts and they get help.

Maybe you should take note of that, in life in general. You will get further

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Tim Behnken for more information if necessary.
