Wireless networking

How do you configure a wireless network card in ubuntu? I am able to to see and configure the card through networking tools and wireless assistant but unable to obtain an IP from the router.

The two network cards I have tried are Netgear MA521 and Netgear WG511 v2.

I have only started using Linux {Ubuntu}in the last few weeks so any help would be appreciated

You could also use network-manager

Maybe http://help.ubuntu.com/community/WiFiDocs has the relevant information
