My sound card isnt being recongnized by the system how do i get it to register?

I'm heving the same problem but i get sound when the login screen comes up . then i login i get a no sound icon, it tells me nothing was loaded so how do i fix it.

I just installed ubuntu and im having the same problem. I have a soundblaster ct4170 that windows ME worked with, but ubuntu doesn't recognize it -someone please help - I havent learned the command line yet. I just hate microsoft!

I have the exact same sound card, and I cannot get it to work, this is a confermation
I am running kubuntu 7.04 feist fawn w/ updates. Everything else works great, and I submitted my hardware information to Ubuntu
