Epson scanner Perfection 1250 not recognised

I have Ubuntu 6.06. The printer, USB card reader and all other hardware are recognised and working. But the Epson scanner Perfection 1250 is not. I feel there is confusion between the 1250 and the PHOTO version of this scanner. When I start to scan the machine gives a forward move then comes to an abrupt halt.

Hello, I have used the same scanner with success. You need to wait and give it time to 'warm up' or otherwise put the scanner in the ready mode. I waited for a long time (5 to 10 minutes) before the scanner started scanning the first page, after which it was normal.
