My audio does not work

I have a laptop with an AC Controller97 SI 7012 which does not work for some reason? so I do not get any sound.This is the first time I work with Ubuntu [Linux].I do not know the system
at all.It is very difficult for me where I have to look for to recover the missing link.I hope you
you can help me.I was a Windows fan,but after all I found Linux much more interesting.
I tried to look for a driver for the controller,but the hardware information was not enough.
I must know where I have to look and what to do.
