problems with kvm switch

Asked by anasazi

I am running ubuntu linux and am having difficulty with the video drivers associated with my kvm switch. (kvmd2) Currently the screen resolution is set at 640 x 480 with no ability to make changes. Any ideas to improve the screen resolution?

Try to add the modes manually editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf, also, does the problem only show when the monitor is off? happened to me once, I fixed it disabling DPMS for my monitor in the same file.

I just bought a IOGear KVM Swith today and installed it and experienced the exact same problem that the first person indicated. I want to thank you for your ideas, Jorge. All I had to do was comment out the line that indicates the DPMS option. I didn't even mess with the resolutions. I rebooted and everything looks great again!

Can you help with this problem?
