in the grub menu select recovery mode and then in the window select the fix broken dependencies /packages this will install the latest updated OS for your system and will fix all broken dependencies as well.
Also you can run apport a bug tracking tool to find out the problem and send the info to developers.

Sorry my fault...not grub menu but boot menu
when you boot the system you are presented with all the OS available on the system....so in that select the second one that ie recovery mode ...you will find in brackets it is written Recovery Mode. When you select recovery mode then select the third option ie repair broken packages...there after let it do the update and upgrade.....and install the upgrades...
Thanks

as soon as you r system boots your system will display booting screen...in that select the second option....and if it is not shown then press alt key ...your boot menu may be hidden. And which ubuntu version you are using?
Thanks
Rajinder
