If the bar ist minimized just drag the delimiter right of it to make it wider then click the cross left of the name.

I wouldn't feel bad about that one. I came here looking for the answer to that myself. Was completely unintuitive to find!

This is really an unintuitive function. This has to be fixed in the next versions. I tried approx. 5 minutes to remove a search request by using all available menus and mouse buttons. Fortunately, I found the online help button, which led me to this page.

Thanks for the answer. :-)

I deleted and re-added my twitter account twice before noticing the weird monkey icon and then had to load the cached version of this page on google to find out how to fix my problem. I was plagued for weeks with status updates from someone I had un-followed and was about to delete Gwibber.

Jesus Christ! I was trying to remove this monkeys for weeks, making everything like removing the account, created it again, removing directories under .gconf and .cache. Maybe a menu item like "View -> Expand/Collapse toolbar" or similar would help a lot. Thanks

This is not at all intuitive or well-documented. How about a right-click option to delete?

I cannot believe how easy that was. So glad there was a report on this or else I would have been scrambling all over the Internet searching for 'gwibber monkey icon.' Thanks!

Cured my question re search icons lingering in the sidebar too. Thanks!!

Even better than a right-click option to remove the dead monkeys would be an option not to add the in the first place. I've yet to find them useful, since I rarely repeat the same searches (usually, I'm just clicking on someone's nick to narrow the view).

Not only would a right-click option be helpful, but how about putting up some documentation on various features, maybe even a faq?
