Unix process subject does not have uid set

Asked by Neo Rey

I get this error when I want to use “Open as Administrator” or “Edit as Administrator” to open or edit a file or folder via root.

"GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.Error.Failed: Unix process subject does not have uid set"

Apparantly this can be fixed either by installing old GVfs from the Ubuntu 20.10 repository or upgrading to the newer version 1.48.1.

My question is: when will the updated GFVs be released for Ubuntu 21.10? It has been a while now and I wonder if an update is imminent.

https://packages.ubuntu.com/impish/gvfs
https://packages.debian.org/bullseye/gvfs
gvfs 1.46 is the current version in Ubuntu.
Until Debian updates to a newer package Ubuntu will not.
Ubuntu is derived from Debian packages.
Ubuntu - "no rolling release"

Just give the user permissions to the .gvfs/ and it should fix it.
sudo chown -R $USER:$USER ~/.gvfs/

Thanks fot the info. I have gvfs 1.47.91-1ubuntu1, it's installed by default in 21.10.

I get this error:

chown: cannot access '/home/user/.gvfs/': No such file or directory

This seems to be Bug #1922548

Maybe the PPA https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/+archive/ubuntu/gvfs can serve as a temporary workaround

@Manfred Hampl Statement of bug 1922548 the status is currently: Fix CommittedFixed, but not available until next release.
&&.. No rolling release for gvfs package. May be for the Jammy release. Not back-ported at the current time.

This will increase further as the 2nm process is being studied in Japan, where there are many hallucinatory books like the scp foundation. What these trivial bugs are maggots for is to compile as much as possible and use chips with thicker wire widths.

Can you help with this problem?
