MTP makes my mp3 player(Yepp YP-Z5F) uncategorized.

Asked by Song Younghwan

I used the device in Windows and Ubuntu Linux as a USB storage.

When I connected it to my computer, "USB" image is appeared on the LCD screen of the device and I could use it like a USB flash memory.

But after some upgrades in Ubuntu, now "MTP" image is appeared, and connecting it makes Banshee, Rhythmbox crashes.

So I used 'mtpfs' to access the file system directly, but when I transfer music files(mp3, ogg, ...) into a directory I wanted like '/Musics/classics/', it always copied them into '/Musics/' directory. So I couldn't categorize my musics.

How to use the device as normally structured USB storage in new upgraded Ubuntu?

I can make my mp3 player to be used as UMS(USB Mass Storage) by running /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-hal-volume-monitor before connect it to my computer. But this is not a intuitive way to solve.

Can you help with this problem?
