Why the hell do I have all these incomplete fonts?!?! EXAMPLE:ゕゖ゚ゟ゠ヿ

Your character map is just _too_ complete, it has characters that the font you tried to use cannot display. Try different fonts to see difference. Although I think there isn't 100% complete font available.

Does this show up on random web sites and stuff?

I found, installing the Microsoft core fonts solved the problem for me...

try running "sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts" in a terminal.
