Ubuntu 12.04 unstable: Global menu and window menu bar appear simultaneously

Asked by Jacob Zimmermann

Hi

On my 12.04 box (currently with libgtk-3-0 3.3.16-0ubuntu1), gtk-3-based apps suddenly started displaying a menu bar in their windows (gnome2-style) , in addition to the global menu. This seems to be specific to GTK-3 as apps based on other toolkits, including GTK-2 and Qt, as well as Firefox, Thunderbird and Libreoffice (with lo-menubar) use the global menu properly and don't display in-windows menu bars.

Am I missing something?

Thanks
Jacob

I suggest you report a bug. Precise is not stable and not ready.

GTK-3 can be a bit tricky with menu bars on older Ubuntu versions. You might want to check if there’s a config tweak or package update that could fix the conflict. I’ve encountered similar issues with older software, and a small configuration change often does the trick. If you need a break from troubleshooting, feel free to check out the Dairy Queen hours for a nearby treat here: https://dairyqueenmenu.net/dairy-queen-hours/.

Can you help with this problem?
