notify-osd does not disappear on mouseover with gnome-classic metacity, though I can click through the notifications, I'm running Trusty Tahr 14.04.1 LTS single boot on a mbp 8.1

I wouldn't be surprised if this is an issue still from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/notify-osd/+bug/546348

Should I just learn to live with notifications not disappearing on mouse over or is there something I can do to fix it?

Looks similar. I'd subscribe to the bug and state it affects your system too
