is it normal the dependency with brasero-common package?

Asked by fabioamd87

I've just installed gthumb on my ubuntu 23.04 and I've noticed this dependecy.
is it normal that a photo viewer depends of a CD burning application package?

fabio@abulafia:~$ sudo apt install gthumb
[sudo] password for fabio:

The following additional packages will be installed:
  brasero-common cdrdao gthumb-data libbrasero-media3-1 libchamplain-0.12-0 libchamplain-gtk-0.12-0 libperl4-corelibs-perl

Thanks,
Fabio

The dependency is indirect,
gthumb depends on libbrasero-media3-1, which in turn depends on brasero-common

isn't brasero the software to burn CD-Rom? (BTW are still used?) why an image viewer depends on such a library?
