Tools are disabled (greyed out)

Asked by Matthäus Brandl

I guess I uninstalled some packet or something, now all the tools (except use as desktop background) are disabled and greyed out, so that I can't use them.
I'm using an up to date Hardy but this shouldn't be the problem, as my laptop has almost (except some packets I suppose :-() exactly the same configuration and there the tools still are enabled.

I assume that your question relates to "gThumb Image Viewer".

The "Tools" menu is greyed out because you do not have an image to process.

Open gThumb, get some pictures into the right pane, click on one of those pictures to highlight it and then have a look at your "Tools" menu.

All fixed now?

Thanks for your answer.
I normally use EOG and start gThumb only to use these tools. That for I choose "Open with" in EOG or Nautilus, then gThumb starts with the image already loaded. Thanks to your answer I came to the idea to simply click on the image what helped.
Strange behaviour in my opinion but now I know it, thanks again.
