slideshow fade annoying

Asked by miles

In gThumb 2.7.9 for Ubuntu 6.10 the slideshow function causes the screen to go black between slides. This occurs not only my second monitor, but also on both monitors when I switch to other workspaces. This was not the case for my old version of gThumb that I ran with Fedora Core 4 .

I have looked at the configuration through gconfig as well as through the built-in properties and I cannot find a way to turn this fading off.

*another annoyance:

The bar providing info about the full-screen extends beyond the monitor with the slide show going on. This is annoying when trying to memorize art slides (the randomized function is very useful here). I run gthumb on one screen, and Firefox open to several web pages with the descriptions the other screen. The bar interferes when switching between the Firefox tabs.

Mainly, what I am asking for, is the settings that would limit all the effects of full screen to the screen that it is filling.

From the gThumb menu, Edit>Preferences>SlideShow Tab, Uncheck the 'Use fading effect when changing image'.

As far as your second annoyance, you might want to file a bug so that the developers get to see it.

I am running Ubuntu 6.10 / gthumb 2.7.9 and I see no such option 'Use fading effect' to uncheck on
gthumb menu, Edit>Preferences>SlideShow Tab ...
I only see:

Delay before changing image: n seconds

   Restart when finished (checkbox)

   Direction

     Forward
     Reverse
     Random

It may only be available on later versions of gthumb.
