Cannot find webcam drivers for MSI VR601X

Asked by Auxilio

So I bought an MSI VR601X and am attempting to get the built-in webcam to work and I'm finding it hard to find drivers to work it, does anyone know where I can look, or know where I can find drivers that I can use to activate the webcam? Thanks for anyone's help.

To help you better we need some infos about your hardware so please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

But just so you know, suddenly my webcam works now. I didn't change anything, and suddenly it started working. So it might be good if I find drivers anyway, but it is not imperative.

In Linux you don't need "driver" you need kernel modules and correct settings.
So if you webcam recognized as usb id:
0c45:62c0 Microdia
start to works may be some system updates make it running.
For example kernel related upgrades may and start and sometimes stop running hardware.

So you don't need to compile gspca kernel module.

Some software for your webcam:

Hope this helps
