gsmsmsd returns error: expected number

Asked by Hardev Sanghera

I am using gsmlib on Ubunti 14.04 LTS, when I try:

/usr/bin/gsmsmsd -d /dev/rfcomm0 -b 19200 -s /tmp/mygsmdir -a "/usr/bin/gawk -f /tmp/mygawk.gawk"

I get:

/usr/bin/gsmsmsd[ERROR]: expected number (at position 6 of std::string '"SM",0,25,"SM",0,25,"MT",21,175')

gsmsmsd version is 1.10 [compiled Oct 22 2013]

I can send sms fine!

I expect the gsmsmsd to monitor the phone for incoming sms texts which are then sent to the gawk script.

I have had the whole thing working previously (via Windows XP hosting a VMware Ubuntu 12.04 virtual machine - the serial device for the phone is setup differently but it does all work).

Thanks in advance for any advice/guidance.

Hardev.

Hi all - in the end I downgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 - works as OK as before now. I needed the setup to work with a Nokia 6810, I tried a few other phones with 14.04 but although I could get connectivity over Bluetooth to 'send' SMS via gsmutils I could not 'get' SMS texts.

Hi.

I've got the same error trying to talk to as number of SonyEricsson K750i devices.

Anyboy else using gsmsmsd having problems?
