Re. 477104: Three months after first occurance--- what are my options now

Asked by JRC903

Today is Feb 1, 2010.
I was wondering when I will be able to install 9.10,,,(accept online updates) and actually get work done. (Recently, I stupidly assumed that after three months this issue was solved--only to find out it was NOT.) This problem has set me back several times--and several months. I am tired of loading and configuring 9.10, only to loose everything when a (general) update slips by me. Should I forget about 9.10 and regress to 9.04? I think there is some efforts afoot to fix this problem-- but when will it be seamless?

Have you tried what this guy says? https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/477104/comments/90 - Other people in the bug comments have said his suggestion works.

I also note they committed a fix a day or two ago - it might take a couple of days to come through into karmic-updates, so keep trying.

Or you could just not install using Wubi.

Thanks for your help---I installed file mentioned, The system booted without incident. And so, I assume that until the change that you mentioned percolates through the system-- that this will be the temporary solution when and if this happens again.
