ubuntu 9.10 delete the boot record of my pre-installed windows OS.

when i installed ubuntu latest version 9.10 on my laptop, it deleted the boot record of my pre-installed windows OS, this is my first time of installing ubuntu 9.10.
this prob was not with the ubuntu 9.04....what should i do...
Is ubuntu 9.10 contains feature of this type...
plz give me assistance....

Alright so first off sorry about the bitter experience, we usually
recommend new comers to first read the community docs. they explain
really well on how to dual-boot (keeping two OS's and choosing on
bootup what you want to use). Now 9.10 has some really amazing
features, but the dual-booting has been present for a while now.
Here's a link [1] to the docs. and also if you go on youtube you can
find hundreds of videos on this topic.
