After update grub2 won't boot on its own

Asked by Jose L. VG

After some karmic update (I guess) my eee 901 won't start on its own, as it waits (for ever) for the user to select some boot option. This is quite annoying as it was working ok before.

It could not be solved by touching the /etc/default/grub options.

Maybe pushing GRUB2 on karmic was a bad idea?
Too inmature?
Moreover when GRUB was working perfectly, easier to configure and much more estable...
What does GRUB2 do that GRUB doesn't?
Why do we need GRUB2 anyway?
Just in order to have new bugs?

Boot to a USB live system and reinstall grub or grub2 to the system. If you upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic you will be using grub and not grub2. You can reinstall and reinstate grub if you wish.

Grub:

Grub2

Grub2 is not too young at all and works fine on all my systems I use it on the systems I have installed it on as well as the desktop system I use grub2 on.

Can you help with this problem?
