Ubuntu not starting

Asked by cakeboy

Ubuntu is not starting at all. I have a dual boot pc and when I choose to load ubunto 9.10 the following message comes up...

GNU GRUB version 1.97~beta 4

[ Minimum BASH-like editing is supported. For the first word. TAB lists possible command completion. Anywhere else TAB lists device /file completion.

sh:grub

I have pressed the TAB key which gives a list of commands.

I suggest you boot to liveCD, then chroot to the installed system and run:

sudo update-grub

This should then reconfigure grub for you, if not you can use the same liveCD to reinstall grub2 in entirety

Can you help with this problem?
