From GRUB2 screen instead of booting it says"error:invalid environment block"

Asked by David Kyser

Karmic 9.10 beta. After a "dirty" shutdown the next boot froze at the splash "spotlight". Reboot went to GRUB2, then on selecting the default I got the message "error:invalid environment", and it returned me to the GRUB2 screen. The failsafe boot gave the same result. I was able to boot normally to Intrepid on another partition. This has happened twice in Karmic beta. I don't know what to do other than reinstall, so I don't have any automatic information.

Since grub2 is new in Karmic, there are still a lot of bugs to be worked out. It looks like this bug is currently being worked on. You can check out the bug report for more info: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/439784

Can you help with this problem?
