Ubuntu 14.10 is not displayed in grub menu after dual boot installation

Asked by mark

I have installed ubuntu 14.10 on the my laptop with windows 7 already existing. The grub menu now is not displaying the option to load ubuntu. It just shows only windows 7.

I tried with boot-repair and here is the output. http://paste.ubuntu.com/8657552/

Also tried with update-grub but unsolved. Can anyone please provide me a solution here.

OmgUbuntu has a guide called "sticking it to Grub". You can chroot to the installed Ubuntu OS and run updates as well as run:

sudo update-grub

May help

I tried this http://askubuntu.com/questions/149929/ubuntu-recognized-by-os-prober-but-not-grub?rq=1. and found kernel files were missing in the boot directory. So re-installing on the same partition solved the problem.
